Neckline embelishment
Here's my first go at embellishment. I went freestyle, in a natural-ish sort of way. All shades of browns and amber and curving lines. Its deliberately not symmetrical. I wanted a flow that was roughly balanced but had a handmade look.
That turned out nicely, Ruthie. I have always admired that sort of beaded embellishment but have never tried doing it on anything but my fiber arts quilts. You look to have done a really good job of placing the beadwork and it sure adds some zip to the top.
" roughly balanced but had a handmade look." I love that thought. In my opinion-our society is far too accustomed to a sterile, machine made perfection. Handcrafted is not appreciated enough.
That's very original and creative. I like it!

ps- oops, forgot to say-I love the result as well, not just the philosophy behind it.
ReplyDeleteI love the embellishment on your top, and how you used the shapes and colors of different beads to make such a neat design. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog! This top is gorgeous....the embroidery is TDF!! Bobbie
ReplyDeleteDo love the beaded embellishment. I would not have thought to combine the amber and red. It is very lovely.
