New Overlocker (serger)

Woohoo, here's picture of the overlocker I just brought home, a Bernina 800DL.
I've had a stable of Janome machines but used a Bernina overlocker on a course and have been thinking about replacing my 15 year old overlocker and chose this one from Jaycott's in Chester who are my fave sewing machine shop.

  1. Oooh, congratulations on acquiring your lovely new machine. I hope you will both be as happy together as my overlocker and I have been. (if you see what I mean).

  3. Oh CONGRATULATIONS!!! I want to hear all the details. I may replace my current a Janome 634D because it seems to have problems with thick fabrics. That means, I'm doubly interested in the experiences of a sewist that does my kind of sewinG!

  4. YAYYYYY! That's the same overlocker I have! I've sewn with it for about two years now and it's a really good machine - easy to thread and easy to set the tensions and differential feed, too. So far as I know, the only downside is that you can't disengage the knives, so you just have to pay close attention if you're serging elastic.

  5. Hey Ruthie, we have practically the same serger now! I have the 700D! And you can definitely disengage the knife, I do it all the time for threading.
