Zipped Pouch

This was my first experiment making something with fusible fleece inside it.

I'd already fused the fleece to the whole outer fabric before I went hunting for a tutorial and my dimensions are slightly different, but I broadly followed this YouTube video.

Next time I will cut the fusible fleece a little smaller so it is NOT in the seam allowances, but the finished pouch is definitely usable as it is.

The fabric originally came from a sample book. Auntie A made it into a small cushion and gave it me as a gift. I later reused the fabric as a pair of pictures when I redid the kitchen in my previous home.

For this project, I removed the fabric from the frames and used the pieces to make the pouch.

The lining was a remnant from Auntie J's stash. (Auntie J and Auntie A are my mum's 2 older sisters)

Pipa Pouches for gifts

I have made 4 new tall Pipa Pouches for gifts. I have a lot of fun matching up the fabric remnants, and zips for these so that I use what I have.

Left is Peter Rabbit fabric, it has a pale yellow lining, cream zip and blue ribbon on the zipper which matches Peter's little jacket.

Second left is pale purple with purple and green print. I've echoed this with a purple zip and green ribbon pull. The lining is pale purple.

The second right is another purple print, this time with a dark purple invisible zip, pale purple lining (no ribbon as the zipper tab doesn't have a hole).

On the right is a turquoise sewing themed print with plain turquoise lining, white zip and turquoise ribbon.

The first 2 zips are metal, so I carefully hand would at any point where I need to stitch across the zipper teeth. No needles were broken!

Earlier in the year I read this blog post

and then went and got it from

After a good rummage in my zipper stash and quilting cotton scraps I was able to make quite a few zipped pouches in both sizes, which have mostly been given away as Christmas gifts

I have another one ready to go.....
