Which simple jacket/coat style to choose?

Recently I've come across 3 different iterations of a similar theme - rectangle based jackets, and I'm not sure which one to go for.

The first was the Geometric Dreams Jacket by Rhonda Buss
Next there was a pattern in October Burda

and the last was a clever bog coat (blanket jacket) pattern in Threads' Quick Stuff to Sew.

All variations of rectangles.... which to pick?

I'm probably the wrong one to ask! At just under 5 feet tall and curvy, the rectangle jacket isn't a good look on me. But since you are asking for yourself, I would like to know how you would wear it. Skirt? Pants? Belted? If I could pull it off, I'd probably think about the accompanying garment first.

I talked to Yorkshire Lass about this on the phone and she was very much of the opionion that I shouldn't make the Burda one. She was leaning towards Rhonda's as there is more shaping at the back. Probably with plain dark apnts and belted.

Dito what Yorkshire Lass says. All those rectangles with no shaping? hmmh, that adds pounds. How does the last alternative looks on a body?

I think the Dreams coat would be most flattering of the three. I like that one myself.

I also agree that the Rhonda jacket would be a better style.
