Green Print Libby Wrap Maxi Dress

 

This is my version of The Weekend Sewing Club pattern for March - the Libby Wrap Dress. I extended the cut on sleeves for a bit more arm coverage and added a neckband instead of the facing.

I used a Medium for the top and a Large for the skirt. The fabric is a silky polyester knit from Pound Fabrics.

Safari Animals Shirt

 

A man's shirt which I made for DH. It's in a lovely soft cotton fabric printed with Safari animals.

The fabric was from Pound Fabrics.

Unfortunately I only had 2 metres of it and its now out of stock. This meant I didn't have enough to pattern match and so there are a few half animals about the shirt.

For the pattern I used Simplicity 1493 in size XL. The sleeves were slightly too long and wide so I've slimmed /shortened them (and altered the pattern for next time)

This is a straight cut shirt pattern which tapers slightly towards the hem, so very much a man's fit, and would need a lot of changes to work for my curvier pear shaped body. It was good for DH though once the sleeves were shortened and slimmed a little.

Ballad Blouse

 This is my first try with the Love Notions Ballad Blouse

I made the size XL with Bishop sleeves.

Next time I would alter the yoke to better suit my high round back better but this version is definitely wearable.

The fabric is a polycotton and so the gathering at the shoulder does not drape quite as nicely as it would in a lawn or viscose.

Metra Blazer in a Printed Ponte

 

I've made another Metra blazer, this time in a printed ponte knit.

For this version I made the shawl collar version as I felt that shape was more in keeping with the swirls of the stylised floral print on the fabric.

I kept the full bicep alteration and did a high round back alteration of 1 inch.

When I wore it out for lunch with a friend I wore it with blue jeans (Itch to Stitch Mountain View) and a plain aqua turtleneck (poloneck). It worked well.

I think plain coloured versions would be more versatile, but I'm trying to sew from stash and this was a suitable weight.
