Emerald Green - ideas for bringing in a specific colour to your wardrobe - Part 5 : Contrast neckband

Emerald Green - ideas for bringing in a specific colour to your wardrobe - Part 5 : Contrast neckband

I had a remnant left over from a previous top which was just enough to make a second top.

I added an emerald green neckband to try to bring out the emerald parts of the print.

The pattern is one I made by tracing a favourite RTW top.

Here's how the different ideas work with the shoes

Emerald Green - ideas for bringing in a specific colour to your wardrobe - Part 4 : Adapting RTW

Emerald Green - ideas for bringing in a specific colour to your wardrobe - Part 4 : Adapting RTW

Another approach for introducing a specific colour into your wardrobe is through RTW. I had this T-shirt which had short cap sleeves with a band. They were uncomfortably tight and unflattering.

I looked through my knit scraps for something to make new sleeves and found this knit with a similar slubbed texture. I thought the navy and white worked well with the emerald, and could imagine wearing this top with blue jeans and the emerald sneakers.

Skirt and tops for a friend

I'd picked up a remnant of floral jersey, which made a beautiful skirt for C.

For this I used the skirt pieces from the Simplicity 9473 skirt. I stitched elastic to the top and flipped it over, stitching it the ditch at the side seams to secure. I also added some inseam pockets from another pattern.

To go with it I made two t-shirts from the Closet Core Tee pattern

which if worn tucked in, give the look of a dress

I've used the 18D front with an elbow length sleeve for both of these.

Pocket for a Polo Shirt

I had this shirt which had a logo on it (related to something I was involved in many years ago).

As the shirt was still in good condition I decided to add a pocket to cover the logo (for the photo below  I have coloured over the logo as its not relevant).

I chose a quilting fabric from Auntie J, which I interfaced and lined with plain purple fabric from Auntie A.

I plan to wear this with olive or tan pants as it doesn't particularly match the other purples in my wardrobe (purple is not a key colour for me)

Scrap Buster Kirsten Tee

Kirsten Tee for my friend C, cut from scraps leftover from another project.

This is free to download from PR if you want to give it a try. It only needs about 75cm of fabric, so is a great scrapbuster
